Remodeling and New Addition Interior Design
Remodeling or making an addition to your home can be as stressful or sometimes even more stressful than
building a new home. A frequent reason for remodeling anxiety is the fact that most people continue to
live in their home while the work is being done. Along with the fact that certain portions of the project
such as demolition can be unpleasant to watch, sometimes a lack of clarity in decision making can cause the
project to drag on longer than expected.
With clients who are making an addition or remodeling, I do my part to assist you in making decisions in as timely a manner as possible to help keep you on track. As with my new home clients, I also provide a Home Design Guide for remodeling clients. This Guide documents all of your selections so that we stay on schedule and provide timely answers for your contractor when an element is needed. If you've already selected a plan design or remodeling contractor I will be happy to work with you and them. It's helpful if I can come into the process early, to put another set of eyes on the plan. Often people benefit from the details noticed by an interior designer that may have escaped others. One of the most common concerns is how furniture will be placed in the new spaces of the new home. I also believe that an addition should, as much as possible, flow with the rest of the home both from the outside and from the inside. My goal is for additions to look like they always belonged. If you have not yet decided on a home design I will be happy to refer you to my home planning professional who has many years experience in providing designs and blueprints to my clients.
